Abby Herrick, RD/LD, cPT, RYT, CWP
Abby is a registered dietitian, holistic nutritionist, certified yoga and personal trainer, and owner/founder of Your Wellness Element. As your holistic nutrition consultant, Abby will create a supportive environment that will enable you to achieve all of your health goals. She has studied all the major dietary theories and will use practical lifestyle coaching methods to guide you in discovering the approach that works best for you.
Most approaches to nutrition dwell on calories, carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. Instead of creating lists of restrictions and good and bad foods, Abby coaches her clients to create a happy healthy life in a way that is flexible, fun, and free of denial and discipline with more emphasis of nutrient density. All aspects of the client's lifestyle are considered (diet, self-care habits, stress level, exercise, sleep habits, etc.) in order to discover how they affect the total state of that individual's health. By recognizing each person's biochemical uniqueness, Abby works with her clients to develop individual health protocols utilizing diet, supplement, botanical, and lifestyle suggestions intended to complement the body's natural healing abilities.
Abby is available to lead seminars, workshops, and presentations for corporate, government, social and civic organizations and audiences. Her programs are always educational, inspirational, and entertaining! While her programs are universally applicable to a wide variety of audiences, each program is customized to suit individual organizational objectives. Her rigorous training to become a Registered Dietitian, earning a B.S. in Nutrition & Dietetics, and M.S. in Nutrition and Physical Performance all have been priceless in giving Abby the solid foundation she needs to face the abundance of misinformation in nutrition my clients are faced with daily.
Abby Herrick took her first yoga class in 2005 and began integrating this life changing tradition into all of her client's personal training sessions (American College of Sports Medicine) which in turn, had a profound effect on their recovery and body awareness. Abby completed her Prana Yoga Teacher Program in 2012 and has continued to teach a variety of styles of yoga from Vinyasa Flow, Ashtanga, Basics, Yin, Restorative, as well as proper alignment classes.
Abby fell in love with yoga's ability to help manage daily stress and manage the wear and tear from activities of daily living and from other types of exercise and training. This then lead to a deeper understanding of the human soul and the ability to understand that the power to cultivate and manifest all good things in life, lies in us more than we are aware or willing to acknowledge it. Abby strives to ignite the passion within each student and helps him or her find their own way on the mat by connecting to their true inner being. Her creative upbeat teaching style integrates her passion for wellness and balance and incorporates an emphasis on pranayama and alignment.
